One of the many many things I loved about Istanbul, was that they seem to have pomegranate juice on tap. Where ever we went, bright, ruby-red pomegranate juice was ours for the asking. There were street vendors at every corner, and it was the drink of choice in kebab joints.
One high end use for this heavenly nectar was the gorgeous cocktail I ordered at the Four Seasons Sultanahmet: The Spicy Pomegranate. The bartender, Murat Ozturk, was kind enough to share the recipe.
Spicy Pomegranate
1.5 oz Gordon’s Gin
1 egg white
1 oz pomegranate juice
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Shake all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker, with ice.
Drain into chilled martini glass.
Grind fresh pepper atop the foam.
