Just in case you missed it, I had a feature in the New York Times last week: here’s the link. It was about the sale of one of the most magnificent homes in Rome, located in the Palazzo Orsini, which is itself located within the Teatro Marcello.
The news is that it’s for sale. I know the place pretty well, since a few close friends have rented it over the last few years. Trust me, it’s really nice. And the asking price is only $41.8 million. I wanted to make sure you knew about it. Just in case, you know, you’re looking for something to buy?
Another lovely article about Rome appeared in Conde Nast Traveller and here’s the link to that. It’s by Lee Aitken, a talented writer who I got the chance to hang out with. She ate her way around town and reports back.
Have a great weekend!

What a treat to read that Iris Origo lived here. I have read many of her books as well as Caroline Moorehead’s biograpghy. A Garden and Landscape in Tuscany- La Foce is one of my go-to comfort books. Will pay homage next time I’m in Rome- at least from the street. Thanks for posting this. Don’t know how I missed it in NYT.
Lost in Provence
I missed BOTH of these and am so glad that you mentioned them. The Palazzo made me dreeeam and Lee Aitken’s article did nearly as much!
La Contessa
Wish it could be mine!!!!!!

It wasn’t very clear in your article, but readers should note that the palazzo is actually built INTO the structure of the 2,000 year old theater! Unbelievable!
