I’ve never been called a sherpa before. But last week I was. In the New York Times. And on the front page of the Herald Tribune. Not your run of the mill guide-you-up-a-Hymalayan-peak kind of sherpa. But the guide-you-to-where-the-good-food-is kind of sherpa. You know, a Food Sherpa.
I’d never heard of one of those either. But I was mighty happy to be included within a group of talented folks who take clients on the quest for what’s best to eat in their respective cities. Ansel Mullins in Istanbul, Meg Zimbeck and Wendy Lyn in Paris, Jet Tila in LA, Edible Excursions in San Francisco.
And me. In Rome.
Pretty cool.
Here is a link to the article, as well as a couple of photos of Wednesday’s Dining Section and Herald Tribune. And here is the link to the slideshow that went with the article, including more great photos of yours truly with the Alter family (who happen to own a Root Beer company) taken by the talented Nadia Shira Cohen.
A big grazie to the Dining Section and Jeff Gordinier! Thank you so much for including me in this amazing article.

We know you are the sherpa. Wouldn’t go to Rome or Florence without your app.
Thinking Sicily soon. An app, perhaps?

Working on it. At least Palermo. I’m working on Eat Italy App which will have the 10 most visited cities in Italy

OMG, OMG, OMG…not to pressure you but when might the Eat Italy and/or a Palermo app be coming out? I’m heading to Sicily in Feb/March 2014 and would LOVE (and be incrediibly thankful/happy) to have your recommendations for Palermo!
In the meantime…I’m (with my trusty traveling mom) coming back to Rome in October…and will certainly be using EatRome again! 😉

That’s just great Elizabeth. A friend of mine, former World Foods Instructor at the Culinary Institute of America sent me this also. I have been sending him your blog for a couple of years.

How exciting. Congratulations.

Excellent! If I ever get to Italy I will use your app, will probably get it anyway, kind of like armchair traveling.

Congratulations. And very well deserved ones at that.
BTW and this I know is a big BTW: What would you say to a 16 year old girl from Southern California who is off to Marsala as an exchange student. I believe you lived some of your youth in Rome. Any ideas or advice come to mind?
Celia
That is exciting. Congratulations!

Great Article and well deserved.. I have been enjoying your blog for years following along on your travels and food adventures…nice to get this public recognition – those of us who (try) to keep up with you recognize you as our virtual “Sherpa”! Thanx!
