***UPDATE FEB 18: Ok, that was fast. This dinner booked up within 60 minutes of posting this. I’m so sorry for all of you who want to come. And with this in mind I have organized another event on March 3. You can find out all about it here. Hope to see you!!
I’ll be in New York next month and I’d love it if you could join me for dinner. The dinner is a chance for me to celebrate my book, Eating Rome: Living the Good Life in the Eternal City, with all of my friends in New York. The event will take place at one of my favorite restaurants, Porsena, where Sara Jenkins will be cooking up some of my favorite dishes featured in the book. I”m not sure yet of the exact menu, but rest assured, it will be delicious.
The dinner is on Wednesday, March 2 and you are welcome to come any time between 5:30 and 10:30. There will be a special prix fixed 4 course menu ($55) which will be served all night long. I’ll be signing books, telling stories, and doing lots of table hopping!!
You can reserve at Porsena’s website, here, or else just give them a call: (212) 228.4923.
I hope you can come! I’d love to see you!!!
Although the photo below was not taken at Porsena, it perfectly embodies not only the place, but mostly the spirit of the dinner. Looks like fun, no?

So disappointed I will be there the weekend of the 18th – consider San Francisco…
Too bad! And yes, I will consider SF for the future.
Come to DC!!!!
Maybe I will soon!
DC seconded!
Dear Elizabeth,
so exciting!!! I would love to join you for dinner on the 2nd of March but that week my fair, The Armory Show takes place so I cannot attend. So sorry to miss this chance!
If you would like tickets for the art fair, please let me know and I will leave your name at the VIP desk for onsite pickup. Here is the website for details and directions. http://www.thearmoryshow.com
James Barron will be exhibiting! The VIP opening day preview is on March 2nd from 2 pm to 8 pm and the fair continues Thursday through Sunday from 11 am to 7 pm. We are located on Piers 92 and 94 on the West Side.
All best, Debbie
Hi Debbie, Sorry you won’t be able to make it but YES, would love VIP tickets. I’ll email you directly later today about it. Grazie!!!
Ciao Elizabeth – I will be in NYC March 2nd! Looking forward to your dinner and your book!

Well yay!!!
How i wish i could join you as i live in NYC. My husband and i were in Rome all too briefly this past September but i feel like my visit continues through your wonderful site!! Love your stories, food and gorgeous pictures. Sadly the one time i am away this winter falls during your dinner (gone from March 1 to 10) Hoping to participate in one of your food tours next year. Until then please keep posting! & Enjoy New York! Kindest thanks, Liz
Thank you for your kind words. So sorry you can’t make it, but hope to see you in Rome in the future.
Elizabeth you are a rock star. Just hours after reading your blog about your dinner in NYC on March 2, the restaurant is already booked! I had to settle for two seats at the bar. Impressive!
Oh no! I know, it booked up in 60 minutes. I’m working at organizing another event as well. Will keep everyone posted here.
Oh Elizabeth…I know it will be fabulous and wish we could join you…but will do so in spirit. And at Porsena too! Wish you all the best with the “tour” and the book! You should think about coming to the Westcoast…we have a great shop here called Barbara Jo’s Books to Cooks who hold author signing events…in fact, Ruth Reichl was here the other day! http://www.bookstocooks.com/ Thought you might like to check it out.
The dinner in the photo does look like fun and we would certainly enjoy seeing Salvatore again! Enjoyed his company so much last October!
Thank you! And I’ll let you know if I organize any West Coast events.
if there is a wialist for Match 2 can you put me on it?
Party of 2

There is a wait list, but I”m also trying to organize another fun event on March 3. Will keep you posted!!
But you can contact Porsena to get on the wait list.
Any chance you’ll come to Toronto one day? 🙂
Would love to, but not sure it’s in the budget. 🙂
Elizabeth ~
Keep Portland, Oregon in mind. Powell’s famous book store would be a good venue to host a book celebration. Portland is home to award winning wines, beer, food carts, farm to table, and there is much, much, more that this city has to offer.
Cheers ~
Tammy
PLEASE, consider Chicago next time! Katie Parla is coming later this Spring to do a dinner. We do have a strong Roman fan base here with so many alums of the John Felice Rome Center in the Chicago area.
Elizabeth,
Been following you for some time. In fact served up your beet gnudi on V Day. Why not take a quick side trip to Detroit? My wife and I would personnally host you for wonderful authentic Itaiian cuisine in the metro Detroit area.
Elizabeth! How are you? Please organize another event! My roommate and I are 19 year old students, dedicated to cooking local, fresh, and Italian out of our NYC dorm room kitchen. Would love to meet you!
I am!!! I’ll be posting it later today, here on the blog as well as Facebook. On Facebook make sure you are following me (you don’t have to friend me, just hit follow to receive updates) and you’ll get the message.
I have a conflict and have to cancel the reservation I made the day your notice came out.
Please, please try to schedule another date for NYC perhaps later in the year.
I never miss a post and would love to meet you.
Sorry to hear that! I am organizing another event, the following day. Hope you can make it. I’ll be posting about it later today.
Hi Eizabeth,
Missed out on seeing you at Porsena.
Would be interested in extra event on 3 March for 5 people.
Many thanks
Matilde Busana
Great! I”ll be posting later today about the new event on March 3. Hope you can make it to that.
Wow! Glad I didn’t wait. Grabbed a table for March 2! Looking forward to it.
