I’ve just added a guide to Puglia on my app EAT ITALY and it’s FREE!
As most of you already know, my app EAT ITALY contains guides to eating your way through Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan, Umbria and Torino. Those guides are available as in-app purchases. That means that you have to buy them. They run from 99 cents to $3.99.
It’s been my intention to add to this list, with all my picks for places like Sicily, Puglia, Bologna, etc. But there’s just one problem with that plan. There just aren’t enough hours in the day or days in the year. I haven’t had time to research, write and release those guides. Because before I include a place in any of my guides I have to not only visit it and eat there, I have to like it as well.
However, that doesn’t mean I don’t have a LOT of material waiting to be published.
So rather than wait for some made up future date when I miraculously have enough time to publish full guides to these cities and regions, I’ve decided to start sharing my favorites in many of these places right now. For free.
First up is Puglia. As many of you know I’ve been visiting Puglia, and especially Bari, for the last 25 years or so. Domenico is Barese, and so we go down several times a year. So most of the places are from Bari, but I’ve also travelled in Salento quite a bit, and have several more trips coming up in the next year.
So expect more Puglia to come! The additions will show up automatically.
And also? Expect more cities and regions too. I’ll be traveling a lot this coming year. And I’ll havtons to share!
EAT ITALY is a free app, and contains guides to Venice, Milan, Rome, Florence, Torino, Umbria  available as in-app purchases for both iPhone and iPad. It also contains a completely free guides to Puglia, with more to come.
And if you’re coming to Rome you might enjoy my book Eating Rome: Living the Good Life in the Eternal City.

This is called generosity of spirit. Something my best friends’ mom used to say and encourage us to have.
Thank You! (for this app and many other things)
On another subject, I’d love to have a brooch designed like one of those those sea urchins–

Or earrings!!!!

My cousins who live in Bari call those “Ricci”

Just for fun I Googled sea urchin earrings—Tiffanys–18K–ha! Though not nearly as pretty as the ones in your pic–plus I don’t think its a very good likeness, so pooh on Tif’s–:)

Ciao Elizabeth,
I am wondering if these applications will return to the Android world. Your Eat Florence application once was, and I would love to continue to support your apps. We were recently to Puglia and loved the food and a number of restaurants there. Thanks.
Elizabeth
Thanks so much for your support for the previous versions of the apps. Unfortunately no, they are not available as android versions. I’m so sorry! It’s just not financially feasible.

Ciao Elizabeth,
I just returned from Puglia for the second time this year and enjoyed lots of their local foods. Thank you so much for this free app as I plan to return to Puglia many times as it is my favorite region. Oh and I also visited Rome and enjoyed several of your recommended restaurants, bars, and gelateria….great app.
Grazie mille,
Robert
