As most of you know, I’ve been calling Umbria home for about 30 years. I’ve written about it countless times, in magazines and books, and of course on this blog and all over social media. (I hope you’re not getting sick of it!).
A year ago I also started bringing guests there, on the Week in Umbria tours that Sophie and I lead. On the very first week we did we had the great pleasure to host a friend and colleague, Lindsey Tramuta. She fell in love with the region too (I guess our tours are doing their job!). So much so that she wrote all about it in this month’s AFAR magazine. Head over here to read all about it.
The tours to Umbria have proved so popular that I’ve added 2 extra weeks for 2019. Here are the dates:
May 19-25, 2019 SOLD OUT
June 2-8, 2019
September 15-21, 2019
October 20-26, 2019
And if you’d like to join us next year, just send me an email. There are still a few spots left at that table below.
To find out more about our Week in Umbria tour send me an email. We also lead Weeks in Rome and in Puglia, and Sophie leads daily market tours in Rome.
An Italian Dish
Dear Elizabeth,
As a long time follower, first of all, I want to thank you for sharing your life in Italy. You offer a breadth and depth that gives me a rich glimpse at this astounding country. I realize it is so difficult to hear from negative people, so I hope to counter that comment with support and accolades to you. After spending a month in Italy, I can begin to understand what your life there must be like. It truly is about sharing food and drink and traditions that are centuries if not millennia old. But even more, the food provides the framework for connections with friends and family. The food and drink give the chance to be social, to talk, to catch up and to connect with each other. It is time to slow down and enjoy these simple yet time honored dishes. I live in USA where we could sorely use some of that lifestyle. Life is more than work, work and more work. Yes, there are some heavy things going on around the world, but that doesn’t mean we can’t surround ourselves with beauty and enjoy the present moment. Again, thanks for all you do.

Dear Elizabeth,
I was quite dismayed to read what you wrote about naysayers concerning your blog or perhaps your Facebook page. No matter what one does, there will always be negative people who enjoy making nasty remarks. I just hope you do not pay much attention! Even though I have lived in and near Rome for forty years, I immensely enjoy your creative blog. I always look forward to reading it. I will not be going on any of your tours, because I live here, too, in this amazing country.
Tante belle cose, Anne
Elizabeth
Thank you Anne!
